The Staffordshire Moorlands provide ample opportunities to enjoy the countryside, canals, railways and historic towns of Cheadle and Leek.

The Churnet Valley Railway runs most weekends and holidays with the nearest station at Froghall about 4 miles away.

The Foxfield Light Railway also runs at weekends and holidays and runs from Caverswall (approximately 2 miles away) to Dilhorne and was the scene of the railway crash in an episode of Cranford.

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Giles in Cheadle is known as Pugin’s Gem and is listed among the finest examples of his work in England.
St. Giles the Abbot, also in Cheadle was host to Cheadle Moon in April 2024 and over 12,000 visitors. Ask Beth about opening times.

The historic town of Leek with its many antique shops is about 5 miles away, as is the city of Stoke on Trent with its world famous potteries and The Staffordshire Horde.

For thrill seekers Alton Towers and the Trentham Estate with Aerial Extreme and The Monkey Forest are both less than 10 miles away. Further afield The National Forest Adventure Farm and St. George's Park are both within 45 minutes.

This area has so much to do that our tourist information used to fill 10 polypocket folders!
